Wanderers

Not everyone is looking for a new home.
The Wanderers are not a faction, settlement or organised survivor group.
This category exists for characters who choose to survive independently — alone, in pairs, as families, or in small temporary travelling groups.
Wanderers may cross paths with established communities, trade with them, stay for a night or a week, help them, oppose them, or simply keep moving.

What Is a Wanderer?
A Wanderer is any survivor who does not currently belong to one of No Way Home's permanent communities or organised factions.
They might be travelling because they have nowhere else to go, because they distrust settlements, because they are searching for someone, or simply because staying in one place has never felt safe.
Some Wanderers are completely alone. Others travel with family, friends or a handful of companions.
The Wanderers are a player category, not an in-character organisation. Characters listed here do not automatically know one another and do not share a common leader, territory or objective.
Who This Option Is For
Characters travelling entirely on their own.
Small family units moving together without a larger settlement.
Friends, partners, siblings or travelling companions relying primarily on one another.
Temporary or loosely organised survivor groups with no permanent base.
Life on the Road
Independent survival offers freedom, but very little security.
Wanderers can move when an area becomes dangerous rather than defending permanent territory.
Everything carried has weight. Food, water, medicine, ammunition and fuel must constantly be replaced.
Injury, illness or vehicle failure can become far more serious without a larger community nearby.
No council, commander or settlement decides where a Wanderer goes next.
Ways to Travel
Temporary Alliances
Wanderers do not need to stay isolated from the rest of the game.
Independent characters can join other players for individual posts, missions or temporary travel arcs without becoming permanent members of that group.
A Wanderer might spend several days helping Pine Hollow with a problem.
They might trade with the Wisconsin Homestead.
They could become trapped inside Steven's Point.
They might encounter The Circle and escape.
Then they can leave and continue their own story.
Story Hooks for Wanderers
Joining a Settlement
A Wanderer does not have to remain independent forever.
If a character's story naturally leads them to join Pine Hollow, Wisconsin, Whispering Canopy or another community, their manifest placement can change.
The opposite is also possible. A character may leave an established settlement and return to life on the road.
The No Way Home setting is large enough for stories that happen beyond the main survivor communities.
Wanderers give players the freedom to explore that world without committing their character to a permanent group.
