Personality & Traits

General Overview A strict, harsh but gentle training of her military father turned a sweet innocent thirteen year old girl into a hardened twenty four year old wilderness lone survivor against the wishes of her mother. What created a rift between her parents had transformed Devon into a disciplined, stealthy hunter killer who survived the harshness of the transformed apocalyptic wilderness of America. After she lost her family only two years before the Operation Cobolt event, she hunted her murderers from the wilderness of Ireland and used her passport to traverse the entire ocean via plane to reach America where she finally contronted them. When she did, the experience transformed her as she would face her uncertainties and realize the real truth that not all would be as it seems. Realizing how close she almost lost her soul, she would lose herself into the wilderness of America in order to find herself again.

Her snarky personality makes up for her crude, dark sense of humor that she uses to deflect her own insecurities. As her guard protects her mostly from being hurt, she craves a sort of attachment or understanding of her pain.
Strengths & Weaknesses Her father taught her everything he could including gun training with a Ruger M77 Mark II hunting rifle. Her crossfit training, as well as her heart, is the source of her strength. She knows unarmed combat, physical fitness techniques, and Bataireacht, or Irish stick fighting. She’s adaptable, quick and resilient. She’s agile, an adept tree climber and loves to hang upside down from a sturdy tree branch to shoot off her target.

He instituted an unique moral code of honor, a compass that guided her to the right path of what’s right, so she knows even some empathy left over, right from wrong.

Her weaknesses is her own stubbornness and temperament. When she fails, she won’t let go until she gets it usually to the point of obsession. While her father’s training appeared harsh and uncompromising, it lowered her empathy towards others as he taught her the hard truth. While the training rid her of her vulnerabilities, it also exacerbated her insecurities. He tried his best to teach her to survive. However, he inadvertently opened a darkness inside of her and it nearly swallowed her whole when raiders killed her family before disappearing.
Positions Held Then Vigilante Mournful Avenger. Now Lone wanderer. Survivor. Detached. Lost.
Back Pack Contents In a tactical backpack, her gear would consist of at least seven items or less for better weight dispersion for a long trip from her home in Ireland to America. From the heaviest to the lightest.
Bladder for water along with a filter to keep her water fresh.
Space for clothing (she never keeps one clothing and occasionally ‘borrows’ clean clothing to replace her ruined clothing. Every week, a new set of clothing fills this small space in her pack and she doesn’t bat an eye. However, she occasionally cleans her tactical gear, jacket and cargo pants due to its durability.)
Additional space and small pockets for ammo.
MOLLE Webbing for her collapsable recurve hunting bow and additional arrows, which she crafts herself on the go. Never more than fourteen arrows and no less than nine.
Space for food on the go, some cans, some MREs, and sometimes beef jerky. Extra space for dog food for Rory.
First aid and burn kit, sewing kit and survival kit including a compass and a metal flint for firestarting.
Papers, including several maps with points of interests and possible outposts for supply runs. She occasionally doodles in her journal.

She has her uncle Declan to provide additional supplies and Rory as the guard dog.
Weapon Main hand: Either a Recurve Hunting Yew Bow for long distance or her personal Irish Ring Arming Sword for close quarters. Her sword is kept mostly in its sheathe and secured on her bag with the MOLLE Webbing secured. She almost never uses it cause it belonged to her father, but continues to maintain its durability, so she only uses the hunting bow for most of the time.

Off Hand: Ciupaga “Shepard’s axe” walking stick, (more for survival than combat as it was used to chop wood, smash things, climb over obstacles and act as a Walker deterrent as the pointy end could be used to push them back.) Her secondary off Hand was her Ruger MK II Suppressed .22lr which was used mainly for stealth attacks against Walkers and crowd control, occasionally small game hunting for food, but not for human combat. Bullets were scarce and she preffered stealth over brute force.

She has a multitool dagger, but mainly used to carve wood and craft arrows.

Versatile with any weapons she came across mainly for survival and hunting. Occasionally crafts hunting axes to throw or fight with. Sometimes she would horde additional ammo for a weapon she doesn’t use for the future.
Hobbies & Interests Wood carving, especially Celtic designs. Axe handle carving to replace and maintain her “walking stick”. Maintaining her fitness level through crossfit. Fishing. Hunting game. Trapping animals safetly and releasing them without injuring. She despises the torture devices raiders uses to trap animals and enjoys making them taste their own medicine

Horseriding. Learning about different plants and herbs and which one is better suited for healing or eating. Teaching her dog Rory new tricks and how to hunt.

Learning new archery skills through additional bows like the composite, longbow and the crossbow. Despite her distaste for the crossbow, she occasionally uses it for quick executions to dispatch walkers and raiders with ease. Although she prefers her own collapsable recurve bow, she likes doing archery trick shots to improve her skills.

Sewing to patch up her tattered gear and make warm, protective clothing for her dog. She occasionally enjoys leatherworking and metalworking to improve her versatile skillset.

Personal History Early History:
Born a military brat in Ireland along with her brother Dylan, Devon’s parents moved occasionally and never stayed at one spot. Mark, her father, served in the Irish military dealing with the Troubles along Northern Ireland while Siobhan, her mother, served as a nurse for the UN Peacekeeping sector. Later in her early life, the family adopted an Irish Terrier pup named Rowan when Devon was seven.

Dev learned the fine balance between honor and code while adapting to situation as it calls for it. At that time, one parent switched responsibilities of raising their children while one of them served at their respective branch. It went smoothly until about the end of the troubles in 1998 when her father returned home.

Mark seemed distraught, worried. Somehow knowing that the Troubles were just the beginning, he retired from the army and took the family including Rowan to a rural, outback section of Ireland. He forced Siobhan to quit her UN Nations sector to take care the children. Something bothered him and his only resolution was to somehow train his children to fend for themselves and survive in the wilderness. Siobhan didn’t like what he became. However, she had no choice as Mark started teaching Devon and her brother what the world was becoming.

Their first home was at the west coast of Ireland where he owned a private cabin overlooking the cliffs and several wooded areas. While Siobhan tended to their wounds, Mark trained them in the beginning of survival training. Siobhan did her part to instruct her children first aid and sewing. After the first year of living in the wilderness, Mark found an abandoned Australian Shepard in one of the cabins. Since no one claimed him, he adopted him into the family and called him Cedric.

For the next eight years, both Devon and Dylan grew stronger and resilient. Mark taught them the skills while instructing them of the truths of the worlds as he understood them. During the aftermath of training, Hayley left the household to explore the countryside. As she returned, her life changed as her home burned to ashes. Raiders came and left, leaving her home burning. Her parents including her brother were found dead in a farmhouse. Her father laid against the wall, his hand holding his chest as blood soaked through his shirt. He whispered to her, begging her to live her life. To not pursue this and seek vengeance. He knew she would do something he never wanted her to do. Then, he was gone.

On the early week of June 2008, Devon lost her family. Mourning them, she sat there as her home burned to the ground. Her dogs, Rowan and Cedric, died protecting the family. Their pups were taken by the Raiders except for one. The runt of the litter yelped from a hidden spot. Curious, she investigated the mysterious sound and discovered her one year old irish terrier aussie shepard puppy named Rory whimpering. His coat appeared reddish. He had no collar. Picking him up, she held him for a few seconds as the puppy licked her face. She gathered everything, buried her family, left her precious things behind and took what she needed.

One of the few things that the raiders took was the family’s coat of arms, a McCadden family crest adorned on a crafted Irish ring-pommel arming sword and shield. During her investigation, Devon discovered that a former vet turned mercenary, Killian Black and his brother Ronan knew Mark during the Troubles. They ran into each other in a bar, but the brothers showed up as mercenaries. They wanted to settle an old score from their time during the troubles. Mark rejected their offer and left. Several weeks later, they raided the McCadden household, killing everyone and looted nearly everything including several puppies and the family’s coat of armor.

Leaving everything behind except a few amenities for her survival, Devon took Rory with her and wandered. Using her senses and hunting skills, she tracked them into a nearby hotel where the brothers stayed. It would take months before she would be able to confront them as they left Ireland to escape the authorities who attempted to track them down for the criminal charges. However, the trail left for them made them circle back to the same place, the ruined McCadden household. Their leads ran cold as the Black brothers covered their tracks well. Meanwhile, Devon adapted to their tricks and tracked them to an old hiding spot. In the spot, she discovered their escape plan to America.

However, before she could travel there, Devon called an uncle who lived in Maine. Declan Walsh, a sheriff of Bowdoin Maine, helped her acclimate to a new wilderness called America. On the first week of September of 2009, she traveled to Bowdoin with only a few things in her pack including her collapsible Irish Recurve Hunting bow cleverly disguised as “sporting equipment” to pass TSA. Devon dismantled it and placed a tracking beacon on it in case it got lost or stolen. Her two year old puppy came with her on the plane with papers that declared Rory as Devon’s service animal. Devon trained Rory for the past months, prepping her as a service animal.

Soon as they arrived in Bowdoin, Declan greeted her and they lived together for several months with him teaching her about America and what to watch out for. Meanwhile, he helped her investigate her family’s killers and cautioned her to be careful. By the end of July 2010 due to the concerns and reports about the Walkers, Declan decided he would go with her. They left with a small tactical backpack with supplies and Rory in a car. Tracking the brothers to Haralson, Georgia, she confronted the younger brother Ronan.

Ronan’s small band of raiders crafted out a small fort out of an old building near the mill in Haralson. Devon and Declan killed them in self defense and interogated Ronan, who had her family’s sword on hand. He taunted her before she finally got her answer from him. Ronan’s brother, Cillian, took the shield and his other band of raiders north. He couldn’t be sure exactly where as he got into it with his brother and they split due to certain disagreements of leadership.

After killing Ronan, Devon, her uncle and Rory started their trek north on horseback. However, the hard trek faced them as they navigated the harsh terrain and the walkers. They would eventually track Cillian somewhere near Wisconsin, but the rising reports of the winter would impede their trek north while facing walker, raiders and other threats.
